Saliva test - saliva flow and pH test
Despite declining rates for years, the development of caries and its consequences still account for almost €9 billion in medical costs for statutory health insurance funds in Germany (GBA 2017/2015). Therefore, education and screening for caries risks are an integral part of medical care – ideally, in the case of young children, this is done jointly by pediatricians and dentists.
By determining subclinical caries risk parameters, it is possible to offer necessary measures, such as nutritional advice, sealing, or other preventative measures, in the practice. The goal is to further improve dental health in all age groups.
After the study by Dr. med. dent. Since the caries risk test developed by Laurisch, based on the microbiological, highly selective detection of caries-relevant bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus species from plaque or saliva, is no longer available, we recommend using the saliva test (AUROSAN saliva test):
Paraffin wafers, measuring tubes, pH test strips, and pastes are also available as individual components.

- The saliva test (MD2429) consists of 10 saliva buffer test kits.
