OAE screener

The examination of otoacoustic emissions (OAE) is an objective method of measurement.

The outer hair cells of the inner ear can be stimulated by means of a loudspeaker located in a small testing probe. The sound emitted by the hair cells (emission) is measured by a highly sensitive microphone, also located in the testing probe, and analyzed in the OAE screener.

If OAE are detected, hearing impairment over 30dB is unlikely.

TEOAE screenings can already be carried out as part of the preventive examinations from U2 on.
