Tympanometer

Tympanometer

Objective middle ear diagnostics

Tympanometry is an objective measurement method for diagnosis and control of middle ear function. It is helpful in identifying and monitoring diseases that may be related to hearing loss.

When measuring impedance, the mobility of the eardrum is analysed and evaluated in response to changes in air pressure.
As a above-threshold test, the stapedius reflex measurement offers additional information on the mobility of the ossicular chain.

Tympanometry is often used to identify and evaluate:

  •      Otitis media
  •      Perforation of the eardrum
  •      Dysfunction of the auditory ossicleseu
  •      Malfunction of Eustachian tube
  •      Otosclerosis
  •      Tympanosclerosis
  •      Cholesteatoma
